The Light of the Spirit of Christ

The light of the Spirit of Christ in our hearts will always bring us to humility; an honest appraisal of what we are really like.

• In the first place, His light reveals to us our many sins and short comings, and gives us the clearest evidence that we are fallen, corrupt, and prone to do evil.

• In the second place, as we endeavor to follow this light, we are again and again taught the lesson that our own strength is utterly helpless in doing and accomplishing the things that we know are right and pleasing to Him.

We must always remember that God's grace has two revealing qualities:

1. To reveal our weaknesses;
2. To reveal His power to help us overcome those weaknesses.

His light, when followed, always softens that which is hard, and deflates that which has been puffed up. As we are fully submissive to His light in our hearts, we will of necessity become tender, contrite, and humble toward Him.

The light of the Spirit of Christ in our hearts not only brings us to humility, but will always exalt Christ Himself. That light and that power, which convinces us of our own sins leads us to form a right estimate of the character and merits of our Lord.

While, in our endeavors to follow His guidance, we are brought to the humbling discovery of our own weakness and worthlessness, we are taught that, in this weakness, the strength of Christ is made perfect. And we can only exalt and worship our Savior, who sup- ports us in every difficulty, strengthens and equips us against every temptation, restores our dried up spirits, and leads us in the paths of right living for His NAME sake.

Today let the light of Christ give you an accurate picture of your soul, then allow Him to begin the process of applying His power to change that condition to that which will please Him.
